Support for the Boy Scout movement came at The American Legion's first National Convention in 1919.

Today, there are more than 2,500 Scout units sponsored by Legion Posts throughout the country.

"Scouts BSA is the traditional Scouting experience where boys and girls can have their share of adventure in the great outdoors. Develop a love of service by volunteering in your community, boost your leadership skills through fun and exciting challenges, and create memories of a lifetime with no prior Scouting experience required!"

Supporting Scout activities is natural for Legionnaires, who bring their service-learned skills and experiences as Veterans to bear to help build character and positive traits in "Young America."

Post 2003 does not sponsor a troop, but we are proud to support and acknowledge our local troops (138/1138 & 154/1154).  The journey to Eagle Scout is a paved with many scout activites, earning merit badges, holding troop leadership roles and advancing through the ranks of Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, and Life Scout.  We proudly recognize Scouts who attain the rank of Eagle Scout with a American Legion certificate and American flag (that was flown over our State Capitol building).

Check out our photo gallery page to see some pictures of the Scouts at their COH.
