Post History
The effort to form the Post was started in early 2003 by Lewis Field, and received its Temporary Charter on 15 December 2003. The fledgling Post didn't want to be tied to a specific part of Fluvanna by choosing Palmyra as its Post name so it was decided to choose the name Fluvanna County Post, and the number was based on the year we formed.

Initial meetings were held in the old Fluvanna High School (now Middle School) until we got a space in the shopping center across from the Fork Union Pharmacy. We met there until the building was sold and we had to move. We then worked out an arrangement with VFW Post 8169 in Scottsville to use their facicily in Scottsville, where we currently meet.
